Your worker has injured his back while on the job and needs chiropractic treatment and physical therapy for a set period. During treatment, the worker is only able to perform limited tasks on the job. That leaves you in a predicament: Is the worker put on a leave of absence or is there work available that fits within the restrictions?
A plan needs to be put in place before the worker can return. This requires the worker’s supervisor to confer with the physician so everyone understands the worker’s present condition, including any limitations or restrictions. The plan also requires the supervisor to do everything possible to reassign the worker to a job suited to the physical limitations.

Also, when employees return to work early following an injury, it helps control costs related to the injury and reduces the potential impact on the business, as well as on the injured worker’s life.
There are several modules within the WorkerFIT system that are beneficial to the Transition-to-Work scenario. The Search module helps create and maintain a baseline of temporary functional jobs with worker fitness requirements. In this stage, we can provide potential job functions or temporary assignments for the worker based on the injury restrictions. Also, the search module is useful in identifying high risk functional tasks and tracking the implementation of safety controls and programs to reduce job injury risks. The Functional Job Analysis module documents and tracks the critical demands of the job or specific work assignments along with the level of risk for that job. This module also helps manage the work restrictions and job placement allowing collaboration between managers, supervisors, and the recovering worker to transition back to their usual and customary position after the illness or injury. The Claims and Restrictions modules enable tracking of lost productivity from injuries and during treatment. Within this module, you can attach relevant test and image documents to the function, job, work group, or employer to support OSHA compliance. The Accommodation module enables an employer to create and search for available job accommodations or demand factors that limit performance.
